Philosophy:

Every student deserves the opportunity to learn in a safe and supportive environment. Through youth voice, interactive activities, and community building, I allow my students to craft their unique identity. When we learn to take risks and express ourselves in front of others we develop valuable life skills beyond theatre or dance. I view my role as a mentor and instructor as one of uncovering, activating, and nurturing my students’ own mental elaborations of knowledge. I monitor and guide their own thinking and learning to help them grow in their capacity.

Testimonials:

"This workshop provided a range exercises that enabled me to break down mental barriers and connect with my spontaneous and instinctive thoughts on character-driven movement."
Anonymous (Acting Through Dance Workshop)

"Lukas's approach to explaining the exercises was very good - I felt that his explanations made the exercises very accessible. Lukas seemed quite "neutral" when explaining the exercises, which also enabled me to approach the exercises without a sense of expectation - I think this helped with getting the most of out each exercise. Lukas created a very open and learning environment, and his teaching style facilitated me being receptive to ideas and exercises in the workshop."

Michelle, 38 (Acting Through Dance Mini-Workshop)

"Lukas provides a safe and open environment in which to explore acting through dance. His teaching style is inclusive to any level of technique, supporting and encouraging you to build upon the skills that you already have."
Lewis, 29 (Acting Through Dance Mini-Workshop)

"Mr. Lukas was such a wonderful teacher and role model for my child, who has always liked to dance, but now understands there is a place for boys in ballet. Thank you!"
Anonymous (Beginning Ballet Parent)

"The instructor is wonderful and engaging and my son love being able to do ballet at home!"
Shannon T. (Beginning Ballet Parent)

"Taking a class from Lukas was an awesome experience. Lukas was an incredibly inclusive and upbeat teacher. He always made every class a blast and encouraged every student of every skill level to "throw caution to the wind", as he put it, and let their creativity flow. He's a great teacher and his skill level provides a lot to learn from. I definitely came out of his class feeling more confident about my dancing!"
Jessica Hamilton (The Dance Lab- Former Student)

"Lukas makes it clear that he cares about his students by creating an inclusive environment where everyone is valued and appreciated. He works with the talent his students bring and adjusts his teaching and choreography accordingly. Lukas is extremely passionate about dance and theatre, and I'm so glad he gets to share that passion with others."
Caroline Kultis (The Dance Lab- Former Student)
